THE BEST SECURITY IS THE ONE YOU CAN’T SEE FROM THE OUTSIDE!
Not only are the materials officially certified and approved, but so, too, are entire vehicles supplied by WELP Armouring.
Before production, our armoured vehicles undergo extensive ballistic testing to VPAM BRV2009 & VPAM ERV 2010 standards at national ballistic testing agencies.
These tests involve firing over 400 rounds of ammunition and detonating hand grenades and mines. The passenger cell must be capable of withstanding every impact. Only then are they certified and approved to their requirements.
The German ballistic testing agency especially focuses on so-called critical areas, such as windows, spaces between the doorframe and the door, overlaps, and body intersections. Millimetre-precise shots are fired into the vehicle from close range using a 5.56 x 45 and 7.62 x 51 mm rifle.
In addition to being fired at, the vehicle must also be capable of withstanding grenade attacks. To realistically simulate a simultaneous explosion, two hand grenades are detonated at the same time: one on the roof and the other on the underside of the vehicle.
The final test simulates a so-called IED attack and involves detonating a car bomb next to a vehicle parked at the side of the curb.
