Our ballistic class overview provides you with up-to-date information on the VPAM standard and the STANAG standard. Our armoured vehicles are developed and produced exclusively in line with these standards. To do so, we exclusively use certified ballistic materials in order to meet our customer’s quality demands.

To this end, WELP Armouring operates a dedicated development and materials testing department that tests concepts and materials on an ongoing basis, applying realistic field tests. Our entire range of armoured vehicles is exclusively tested and certified by an independent national ballistic agency under the harshest conditions. This ensures that WELP Armouring’s safety concept always adheres to the very highest standards.

The result: No matter whether for government agencies or the protection of VIPs or private individuals, if you are in a WELP Armouring armoured vehicle, you are have full command as well as the comfort to respond to any dangerous situation.

STANAG 4569

Aside from the existing ballistic resistance levels, other detonation classes also exist that are designed to protect our customers from attacks involving hand grenades, land mines and IEDs (self-constructed car bombs). Our armoured civilian vehicles also offer protection from these threat levels and have been certified accordingly.

To counteract the rise in threat levels across the globe, some vehicles have even been tested and successfully certified for larger-scale detonation classes that go beyond those required by the standard.

The following detonation standards are in place for armoured vehicles:

VPAM ERV2010 STANDARD (EXPLOSIVE RESISTANT VEHICLES)

This standard can be requested from the VPAM testing centres or the VPAM office where there is a justified need. The details and testing scenarios are therefore not freely available.

Under the ERV2010 standard, DM51, HG85 and RGD5 hand grenades as well as DM31 AP mines among others are subjected to testing. Tests are additionally performed using thrown missile detonations, so-called IEDs, simulating a car bomb, are tested.
